Meta VR Glasses
Meta
From cinema-quality viewing to everyday tasks, Meta VR Glasses put a screen of any size in front of you. It is a new category for Meta after a decade of development, and we made the film that launched it.
See how it feels
A landmark product launch needed a cinematic experience to match the product experience. We designed and built six full sets: a cafe, a hotel, a nook, a loft, an airport and an aeroplane cabin. The live action moves through these spaces with compositions built around what the wearer sees, so the audience watches the screen the way they would when wearing the glasses.
The glasses are a breakthrough form factor, so the renders had to show it. We spun them through the frame and built the lighting and composition around the detail and craft of the product, bringing out the light, the materiality, the Dolby Atmos audio and the engineering inside.
First look
Meta Connect. The film played behind Mark Zuckerberg as the glasses were revealed to the world.
Research and development
We wanted to push the visual development as far as possible before stepping onto set. We pre-visualised the film in detail, testing camera moves and transitions. The aim was to blur the line between live action and CGI and build a visual language that felt warm, sophisticated and cohesive from beginning to end. Keeping the approach simple and considered gave the film one world, with each shot leading into the next.
