IoDF x H&M Metaverse Design Story
⌝ Digital Fashion Collection ⌞
A collection of digital garments inspired by the tactile beauty of the natural world that serve as companion pieces to a selection of physical ready-to-wear garments for H&M.
The London-based metaverse atelier IoDF approached us to collaborate on the creation of a digital capsule collection for H&M’s Innovation Metaverse Design Story.
FutureDeluxe took care of all look development and animation, from R&D / design explorations to the creation of the final garments, in all their finest detail.
With the boundaries between online and offline life continuing to blur, we looked to combine the craftsmanship of high fashion with fantasy worlds and virtual realities.
Exploring the shape, expression, and behaviour, the outfits were conceived as near-living beings.
Transitioning seamlessly through their three stages of growth, digital ecosystems gently envelope the body creating a sense of connection with it and emphasising the human form. This was especially evident when two of the metaverse garments were composited with live action.
Creating a capsule collection for the digital space frees us up to think about the process of creating garments differently - not solely from the perspective of how (physical) clothing is made. What could a garment be when materiality and the laws and physics are fluid?
We're also not locked to selecting one particular base form. Digital fashion, at its very core, can exist as a mutable living hold — a dynamic and constantly evolving aesthetic expression.
The definition of jewellery, adornments, beauty & makeup also become a broader, mercurial concept — interchangeable, versatile, transient.
