Nike
Introducing Nike’s fastest boot ever. And the other fastest boot ever. Nike asked us to visualise speed in two distinct forms. The Mercurial Superfly and the Mercurial Vapor represent opposite ends of the same idea: fast sprints and quick cuts. The two films explore both, using light, motion and material to make speed itself the subject.
Superfly
The Mercurial Superfly is the fastest boot Nike has ever made, powered by next-gen Air Zoom technology and a FlyWeave Ultra upper. To capture that speed, we leaned into light streaks and light painting.
Camera shakes, object stretching and depth trickery pushed the sense of speed breakaways, making each stride feel like it covers lengthy distances in no time. Close-up product moments gave the technology behind the speed its own spotlight.
Vapor
Worn by Vinícius Júnior, the Mercurial Vapor is the lightest boot Nike has ever produced. The Superfly is about distance; the Vapor is about direction. Some players run past defenders; others make them disappear. We built the Vapor’s visual language around pixel stretching, duplication, and echo effects, tracing unpredictable paths that this boot can compete with ease.
Camera blurs, drop frames and glitch effects add to the sense of a boot that moves faster than the eye can follow. Also playing with weightlessness, letting the product float and dissolve like vapor itself.
Research and development
The films focus on speed as a concept. Every camera move and effect was built to show the unreasonable speed these boots provide. Split into two chapters, one per boot, each has its own visual end goal, but both are driven by speed.
