A/V Dialogues
⌝ Generative Sound and Design Systems ⌞
How can we design generative audio and visual, together, in dialogue with one another?
A/V Dialogues is an exploration in generative sound and design systems, focused around a discourse between TouchDesigner and Eurorack Modular synths. Sound patches are set up to drive the visual system with Midi which is, in turn, passing back CV data to alter the sound.
The dialogue prompts exploration as the role of curator/art director becomes our focus.
Brian Eno’s approach to composition is relevant here. Engage with it as a Gardener would; to sow the seeds and wait to see exactly what will come up to then work in collaboration with the complex and unpredictable processes of nature.
This sentiment is one we think about often when engaging with algorithmic/procedural/generative design. Instead of trying to organize a piece in full detail, like an architect, we aim to organize the seeds of the artwork and then allow the dynamics of the system to take us in unique directions.
